Protoss vs Zerg counters

protoss vs zerg countersKnowing how to counter every unit your Zerg opponent can use against you is one of the keys to play a Protoss versus Zerg match successfully.

Zerg can switch his tech and mix of units very quickly so it`s necessary to scout a lot and use a mixed army as well. Most often you will face a combination of Roaches, Hydralisks and Zerglings but be prepared even for other units – Mutalisk harassing, Infestors etc.

Don`t be afraid, these counters are actually pretty logical and easy to understand and memorize. You will adapt them all after few games played and then execute them automatically without thinking. So let`s begin!

zergling counterThe most universal Zergling counter are Zealots, unless they are massively outnumbered and surrounded. Fight in choke points whenever possible and also bring in some Sentries for support. Upgrade weapons and armor to your Zealots and research Charge.During the beginning of the game, don`t let Zerglings run through your ramp (or entrance to your base), use wall-in. When you scout a hard Zergling rush, even add some Photon cannons and prepare Force fields.During the late game, Colossi quickly kill them.baneling counterBanelings are not that common in PvZ since most of the Protoss units work well against them. Just be careful with your Zealots – avoid the Banelings with them!Use Stalkers or Immortals to deal with them. Also don`t let your opponent drop Banelings into your mineral line.roach counterStalkers work quite well against Roaches, just be careful when they are mixed with Zerglings.Immortals are the best counter as they deal massive damage to Roaches and their shields deflect a lot of damage from them.Air units like Void Rays are safe against Roaches, just don`t invest too much into them as your opponent will probably switch to Hydralisks quickly.Spot the burrowed Roaches with an Observer.hydralisk counterUse Zealots with Charge as a meat shield and add some high-damage units to kill them, Colossi or High Templar with Psionic storm.Use Sentry to cast Guardian shield to protect your troops.mutalisk counterProtoss have many great counters against Mutalisks so you will see them probably only as a harassing unit – so fortify your mineral lines with a few Photon cannons and some Stalkers. And if your opponent tries massing them, build a large force or Stalkers (Blink will help a lot) or add some Phoenixes - they excel against Mutas.corruptor guideStalkers are the primary counter here as Corruptors can`t attack ground units. You can also use Void Rays when you already have the Stargate. But your opponent will often use Corruptors with Hydralisks so be careful.infestor guideBe careful with your expensive units like Colossi as they can be Neural parasited by Infestors. An interesting tactic is to create Hallucinated Colossi and put them in front of the real ones.If you have a strong micro, use High Templars and their Feedback on Infestors.ultralisk counterA combination of Stalkers and Immortals deals a lot of damage to Ultras, just watch out for Zerglings and add Zealots and/or Colossi to protect your other units against them.Void Rays or Carriers are safe against them.Block the entrances to your expansions with Gateways and build a lot of Photon cannons behind them. Also have a Sentry to fill gaps in your defense with Force fields.

Have you found some other effective counter not listed here? Tell us about it in the comments ;)
