Terran vs Protoss counters

terran vs protoss countersKnowing how to counter every unit your Protoss opponent can use against you is one of the keys to play a Terran versus Protoss match successfully.

Mosts of the games you can be the one forcing your opponent to adapt, but sometimes you will encounter strategies that have to be countered properly if you don`t want to lose the game immediately. And countering is also much more efficient then setting a strategy and hope your opponent will not counter it himself.

zealot guideWall-off your base to prevent your opponent from Zealot rushing you. Just have some Marines / Marauders behind the wall and a couple of SCVs to repair the Supply depots.Later on you will probably fight Zealots mixed with other units so a classic Marines & Marauders build will work. Try to fight in choke points and don`t get surrounded! Research Concussive shells to prevent your foes from escaping.Facing a pure Zealot army is very rare – but if you run into problems, counter them with Reapers, Hellions or Banshees.stalker counterMarauders excel against Stalkers, build them as soon as possible. Focus fire and Concussive shells will be useful.Later on, add Siege tanks to your army and protect them with Marines and Marauders (you have to force the Protoss to attack through your infantry to get to the tanks). Watch out for Blinking!sentry counterYou probably don`t have to fear Sentry as an attacking unit – but their spells can be very annoying. Be very careful when approaching tight spots and ramps as your forces can be easily divided in half by Force fields. And always think ahead where to position your army – your opponent may want to attack your expansion for example and block your arriving forces completely by Force fields. You can use Ghost with EMP to drain energy from Sentries.immortal counterMarines and Marauders, stimmed and with Medivacs if possible will be the best choice against Protoss army which uses Immortals also.Ghost can be extremely effective with an EMP to remove the Immortal`s shields. When fighting Immortals alone, Banshees can quickly kill them.colossus counterBe very careful with your Marines and Marauders as Colossi will decimate them easily.Add Vikings to you army and attack Colossi with their great range, just avoid being hit by Stalkers who will probably defend the Colossi.high templar counterUse Ghosts and their Sniper ability to kill them. Or drain their energy with EMP.Use your Marines and Marauders carefully – they are very vulnerable to Psionic storms. Some tricky tactics involve using cloaked Banshees or Raven with Seeker missiles.dark templar counterBuild Missile turrets at your mineral line and key locations.Use Scan, but don`t haste – using Scan instead of a Mule costs you a lot of minerals and skilled Protoss players will also perform hitting and running away from the scanned area, forcing you to deplete your Command Center`s energy.archon counterArchons aren`t seen often but when you encounter them use Marauders, Siege Tanks and Thors.Try to EMP them with Ghost.phoenix counterUse Marines, stimmed if possible to shoot them down, when in trouble, add some Thors or Vikings.Build some Missile turrets at your mineral lines if your opponent tries to harass your workers with Graviton beams.void ray counterUse mass Marines with Stimpacks or Vikings, just don`t let the Void Rays fully charge. If desperate, build some Missile turrets to slow them down.carrier counterBuild Vikings quickly (in pairs using Reactor on Starport) and focus fire on the Carriers. If you have enough time, start building Battlecruisers and upgrade Yamato Cannon.mothership counterAgain, Vikings will be your best choice, but be careful as there might be cloaked units nearby.Use Ghost with EMP to drain energy from the Mothership.
