Welcome to the Zerg overview! No matter if you have already decided to play them or just want to see their advantages and disadvantages, you have come to the right place.
You will find here several brief tips what to expect from the Zerg and how to play them
very fast unit production
cheap units
burrowing
units regenerate and move faster upon Creep
defensive structures can uproot and move
instant transport of units via Nydus Worm
units are quite weak in general
structures must be built on Creep
Drones are lost when creating a building
Playing Zerg is probably the most difficult of the three races for StarCraft 2 beginners – so I would recommend you starting with some games as Terran or Protoss before advancing to the Zerg. The reason is that they use an entirely different building and production style than the other two races. But when you master their style, they will be very powerful in your hands.
Zerg build all their units in a Hatchery.
Zergs don`t use several different production buildings, but produce all their units in Hatcheries - the advantage is that you can produce your entire army really quickly – which is also great for beginners. When you lose your entire army, it`s much smaller problem then losing your entire Terran or Protoss force.
The next thing to learn when playing them is the Creep - your structures (except Hatcheries) can`t be built outside of it. On the other side, your units move faster on Creep so spreading it across the map as much as possible is a great idea.
Use Creep to your advantage.
When playing Zerg macro will be much more important for you than micro – establishing a strong economy and massive unit production to simply overwhelm your opponent is the key here..
